Abstract

This study is comprised of three parts. The first part tackles the question of the establishment of the Kingdom of Songay; the second examines the means that contributed to the dispersal of Islam within the population of the Kingdom of Songay while the third part focuses on the interaction of the people of Songay with Islam. Indeed, Islam became, with time, an official “reference” for the people and the kings of this Kingdom. In conclusion, this study showed that Islam deeply transformed this society to be a typical Islamic society.
