Terminological Meanings in Lexicons - Syntactical Definitions in Muhkam Ibn Sidah as a Model

Abstract

Linguistic meanings had settled in language Lexicons, and that the terminological meanings had settled in specialized heritage books. This work aimed to observe the syntactical definitions in the Lexicon of Ibn Sidah (dated 1066), entitled "The Perfect And The Greatest Ocean" (Almuhkam Walmuhit Al'aezam), by analyzing and authentication. The findings of the research revealed a strong relationship between Grammar and this Lexicon, and a strong link between the terminological and linguistic meaning. The research also clarified Ibn Sidah's interest in some syntactical definitions in his Lexicon.
